NDMA Pakistan, Lessons Learnt & Best Practices On Flood Prevention

We were in Pakistan for the NDMA International Conference where our CEO, Anders Philipsen, gave a presentation on the lessons learnt and best practices on flood prevention.

Organized by Pakistan's National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), the conference seeks to help other countries capitalize on Pakistan's vast experience in handling mega disasters.

It was an honor to get an opportunity to share our knowledge on proactive approaches to fight floods using mobile flood barriers and early warning systems, as a means to reduce devastation caused by flooding.

Our Presentation On Lessons Learnt From Floods & Best Practices On Flood Prevention

Our CEO's presentation was centered towards:

  • Flood protection
  • Latest technologies for flood mitigation and early flood warning
  • Lessons learnt from floods and best practices on flood prevention

Conclusions made during his presentation can be summarized as follows:

  • We can adopt elements of best practices from international frameworks to Pakistan (e.g. EU flood directive)
  • Flood risk analysis gives us knowledge of where, when, what and how to fight floods.
  • Use of new flood barrier solutions makes a country more resilient and decreases the level of disasters
  • Early warning systems give knowledge before and during floods, thereby increasing efficiency of flood management
  • Combining early warning systems and flood barriers brings protection to a new level
  • Assessing global cases of flood protection helps to shed light on how to effectively fight floods, thus reducing the associated costs.

The great professionalism and warm hospitality shown during the NDMA Pakistan conference makes us look forward to our next visit, and to hopefully contribute during implementation of new technologies in the region.

This was our second time contribution in the 3 day inspiring conference that took place in Serena Hotel, Islamabad, Pakistan.

We are hopeful that our contribution on the lessons learnt and best practices on flood prevention will be of benefit to those who attended the conference.
